The Belta Masters 2007

"The Year of the Rookie"

2007 was a great Masters for lots of different reasons. There were 24 of us for a start, there was some superb scoring (the highest ever masters for scoring and the highest winning points total @ 118), a great social, hedge police, me and Spazza losing the plot on Saturday night(or was that a different year? or every year?

We welcomed several newbies including The McFee sisters , Nishter, Ian McKee, Ricky T, Eric and Matt Spooner and those trousers!ricky t

2007 saw the first ever "Freddie Couples Day" where we all did our best to add some colour to the Saturday. No-one however could beat Ricky T's quick ton in the pro shop on his infamous canary yellow ensemble and he duly walked off with the trophy.

Day 1 was probably the highest scoring day in Masters history (check if ya like...). 46 for JC (still a Masters record) and a 44 from newboy and 14 handicapper Mr Ritchie McFee. Me and the Pig also got off to a good start with 38's.

The weekend will be remembered for Ritchies rookie win and Innes didn't do too bad either!!! Only Mr Christopher prevented their one-two, his 114 a very fine effort and a winning score most years.

We introduced The Mike Harris Trophy for 4th place as Mike always ended the weekend just outside the trophies...and he did again finishing 5th!
